Dear Colleagues,hereby we wish to announce the Twelfth European Expert Meeting onSelf-Help Support taking place in Florence Wednesday to Saturday, 19to 22 June 2013.You are cordially invited to take part in this conference. CoordinamentoRegionale Toscano dei gruppi di auto-aiuto , is pleased to organize thismeeting.The conference venue will be in:CSD_Foresteria Valdese Firenze (http://lnx.istitutogould.it/foresteria/)Via Serragli, 49 FirenzeThe conference fee will be 350 Euro. It should be transferred to our accountbefore March, 30th 2013.This fee includes three nights in single/double rooms, breakfast, lunches andfull board. Because funding for this conference isn’t sure yet, we might beforced to increase the fee.The meeting aims at bringing together a selected number of self-helpsupporters who do similar jobs in different countries. Together we will assessdevelopments in various countries, exchange new information and practicalexperiences on working with and developing self-help groups andsupport centres in the years to come.The theme of the meeting is “Self-help and institutions: projects andexperiences among different countries”.We would like to exchange experiences and good practise examples about:• Effectiveness and efficiency of self help groups;• Self help and new disease: which possibility of developing?• Social- political-economic crisis and self-help: the effects andconsequences .• What is new in your country?It would be helpful, if you bring with you some propositions and presentationwhich can be discussed in the plenary section. In the working groups we wouldlike talk about the best practices for the self-help diffusion.Attached you find the preliminary programme. As you can see, we expectnational presentations from each country in one of the three issues in order toupdate our knowledge about the situation in the countries represented duringthe conference.Some topics suggested to structure these reports are also found below.According to our tradition of a mutual teaching-learning-process during theconference we encourage you beyond that to propose topics which youwould like to present in a presentation of approximately 15 minutes. Asyou can see, on Thursday 20 th June and Friday 21 st June we have time for

presentations on topics which you have choosen yourselves (one of the threethemes).Please help us to organise the conference by sending your proposals beforeMarch, 15th.Receptions, field visits, and breaks will round up the programme and offer timefor personal encounter and further exchange of ideas and experiences.Those of you who would like to use this opportunity to stay over the weekend(or even longer) in Florence or elsewhere in Italy, don't hesitate to ask us forassistance if needed.According to our tradition this invitation is meant "ad personam".
