Annex CeMobility – Strategic Applications Agendaand reliable satellite, geophysical and geochemical information and warning systems is therefore increasinglyvital. Besides, once such systems have proven to be effective, they can be applied for similar purposes in otherEuropean areas and worldwide. Technologies today have proven that early warning of volcanic activity can beachieved by monitoring measurable changes in geophysical and geochemical parameters. Correlation betweendifferent monitored data sets, which would improve any prediction, is very scarce or missing. Visualisation of allspatial information and integration into an "intelligent cartographic concept" is of paramount interest in order todevelop 2-, 3- and 4-dimensional models to approach the risk and emergency assessment as well asenvironmental and socio-economic planning.Objectives2+3D Topography & BathymetryElevation (DEM) & Landscape models (DLM)derived from conventional & satellite dataVisualisation of different monitored data setsCorrelation of all spatial information Intergration into "intelligent cartographic concept"As result: Easy and user friendly interaction 2, 3, and 4D modelling of hazard (scenarios, zonation), vulnerability, risk and emergency assessment -The Early Warning System (EWS) in case of hydrothermal-explosive and volcanic reactivation.Project detailsProject Acronym: GEOWARNProject Reference: IST-1999-12310Start Date: 2000-01-01Duration: 36 monthsProject Cost: 2.75 million euroContract Type: Cost-sharing contractsEnd Date: 2002-12-31Project Status: CompletedProject Funding: 1.35 million eurohttp://www.geowarn.org/http://cordis.europa.eu/fetch?CALLER=PROJ_IST&ACTION=D&DOC=4&CAT=PROJ&QUERY=011a9bd1f8e4:6a7d:42a8ac14&RCN=60825ParticipantsGesellschaft Fuer Geophysicalische Untersuchungen Mbh:GermanyUniversitaet Hamburg:GermanyOsservatorio Vesuviano:ItalyNational Centre For Marine Research:GreeceEidgenoessische Technische Hochschule Zuerich:SwitzerlandNational And Kapodistrian University Of Athens:GreeceUniversite De Lausanne:SwitzerlandCoordinatorContact Person: Name: STAVRAKAKIS, GeorgeTel: +30-2210-3490195Fax: +30-2210-3490180Email: g.stavr@egelados.gein.noa.grOrganisation: NATIONAL OBSERVATORY OF ATHENSINSTITUTE OF GEODYNAMICSLOFOS NYMFON PO Box 2004811810 THISSION – ATHENSGREECE200
