Artists that haven’t sold much chance not beinginvited back by starting to pack up early. Finallythe time arrives and I start packing up. Trucks andvans go roaring by making me very careful as I stepout of my booth. I have learned to take it easy on teardown. Let the real crazies get out of the way. I meticulouslypack the big bowls and hollow forms intocrates, and inventory smaller items as they are packedaway. When the stock is all packed I disassemble thetables and sidewalls of the booth. Time to get the vanand see if I can get through the streets to the booth topack.As I walk to the van I see that one side street isn’tvery crowded and I might be able to sneak throughthere instead of the official route which is jammed.I get the van started and am able to get through mysecret route without getting caught. I arrive at thebooth and a trailer has just left giving me room topark. Packing gets started and by 9:30pm I am readyto move on. A quick goodbye and a wish for a safedrive to those still left around me and I am off to thehotel again. More drive through and wine. On the roadtomorrow morning by 5am to get home to ship specialorders and make more stock before leaving wed forthe next show.And to think I do this by choice!!the webmaster if this applies to you.Thanks,Kurtkurth@woodturner.org
