Pipe Device DescriptorsDescription File Modification Procedures7Step 1. Change to the PIPE/ directory (see Figure 7-3).Step 2. Edit the file config.des and read the included comments for morespecific information on using the specific description files provided inyour software distribution. The config.des file contains a list of macronames that can be defined to override the global default values for theconfiguration fields.Step 3. Refer to the DESCRIPTION FILE MACRO section in the field referencelater in this chapter to determine the macro name you define toconfigure the target field.Step 4. Read the comments in config.des to determine where to place thedefine for this macro.Step 5. Select the value you want to use to configure the field. See theAVAILABLE VALUES section of the field reference data for values ormacros that can be used for the definition. Define the macro by enteringa definition in the appropriate description files as follows:#define Step 6. Save the changes and rebuild the pipe device descriptors, entering thefollowing command in the PIPE//DESC directory:os9makeStep 7. Rebuild your boot image to include the new descriptor.OS-9 Device Descriptor and Configuration Module Reference 581
