4SBFTM<strong>Device</strong> <strong>Descriptor</strong>s MICROWARESBF Field <strong>Configuration</strong> OptionsTo change an SBF device descriptor module configuration field, you canuse either of the following methods:1. Use the EditMod utility to directly modify existing SBF devicedescriptor modules either as a st<strong>and</strong>-alone module or as part of amerged module group (such as a boot image).2. Modify the description file for the SBF device descriptor module <strong>and</strong>rebuild it using the makefile provided.Direct Modification AdvantagesThe direct modification method has the following advantages:FastNo source configuration file rebuilds arenecessary.TemporaryThe original module or merged-module groupconfiguration can be easily restored through theappropriate rebuild.ContainedChanges are limited to the individual bootimage modified (merged-module option).Description File/Rebuild AdvantagesThe advantage of the description file/rebuild method is that the changesare permanent <strong>and</strong> reproducible. Modifications apply to all subsequentmodule rebuilds <strong>and</strong> to all merged-module groups built containing theupdated module.Both methods are documented in this section. These procedures areused with the field descriptions starting with the <strong>Module</strong> HeaderFields.
