<strong>OS</strong>-9 <strong>Configuration</strong> <strong>Module</strong> (init)Init <strong>Module</strong> Field <strong>Reference</strong>2This section contains a list of the most commonly configured fields inthe init module. Each field entry contains the following information:• - The call name for each field that can be reconfiguredin the module.• EditMod LABELS - EditMod menu selections for navigating to theproper field in an EditMod session.• DESCRIPTION FILE MACRO - The macro name you modify/definein the description file.• DESCRIPTION - A brief description of the field’s purpose <strong>and</strong> use.• EXAMPLE - An optional example of the description file entryshowing how to change the value of this field.• PORT GENERIC DEFAULT VALUE - The value set in the portgeneric description file for this field. This is the value the field isassigned when the module is built, unless the appropriate macrohas been defined in the port specific description file to override thisdefault value.• PORT SPECIFIC OVERRIDE VALUE - The value set in the portspecific description file for this field. If defined, this is the value thefield is assigned when the module is built, overriding the port genericdefault value.• AVAILABLE VALUES - Values to which the field can be set throughEditMod or the description files. In many cases, this data ispresented in a table that maps a description of the value to anumeric value appropriate for entry in EditMod, <strong>and</strong> to a pre-definedmacro available for use in the description file.The init module is sometimes referred to as the configuration module.It is located in memory in the sysboot file or in ROM. The initmodule is a non-executable module of type MT_SYSTEM. The initmodule contains system parameters used to configure <strong>OS</strong>-9 duringstart-up. The parameters set up the initial table sizes <strong>and</strong> system devicenames <strong>and</strong> the init module must always be available to determine<strong>OS</strong>-9 <strong>Device</strong> <strong>Descriptor</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Configuration</strong> <strong>Module</strong> <strong>Reference</strong> 107
