THE DOS & DON’TS IN THE EVENT OF A MOTOR ACCIDENTThe Dos• Do stay calm, park the vehicle in a safe positionand location, and exit the vehicle safely• Do check to see if any one is injured and if so, call999 for the police to summon medical assistanceand ambulance• Do call OAC Motor Accident 24 Hours Helpline at6248 2660 for immediate advice and towingassistance• Do exchange vehicle and driver particulars asfollows whilst waiting at the scene:1. Registration number of all vehicles involved inthe accident (including color, make, and modelif you can identify)2. Driver's name, and mobile number of allvehicles involved,3. The number of passengers in the vehicles4. If a camera is on hand, take pictures of theposition and damage condition of the vehiclesinvolvedThe Don'ts• Do not admit liability or responsibility to any one,verbally or in writing• Do not fall prey to touts and strangers who may offerhelp at the scene• Do not allow your damaged and immobilized vehicleto be towed away by non-OAC authorizedworkshop’s tow truck• Do not accept any offer of repair and claim servicesby workshop not on OAC list of authorizedworkshops• Do report the accident within 24 hours from the timeof accident at one of OAC authorized workshop andprovide all factual information and details so thatyour accident report may be filed accurately andtimely• Do not accept any promises, waiver of Excess, and /or offer of free use of a courtesy car from strangers,including drivers involved in the accident, at thescene of accident• Do provide the OAC authorized workshop with the • Do not attempt to sort out who was at fault with thephotographs you have taken of the vehicles involved Third Parties at the scenefor upload into your report• Do accept the OAC authorized workshop offer ofrepair• Do allow OAC authorized workshop to assist youin claiming against the responsible Third Party ifyou are not at fault• Do allow OAC authorized workshop sufficient timeto carry out a quality repair work• Do not accept lawyer services arranged byworkshop• Do not sign on any papers presented to you by anyone without first reading and understanding itespecially on the fine prints• Do not delay in reporting the accident to OACauthorized workshop as there is a NCD penalty ifaccident is not reported within 24 hours from thetime of accident, and your claim / indemnity underthe policy may be prejudiced as a result• Do check your repaired vehicle on collection forany defective repairsAuthorized Workshops V2.0 June 2012
