Emergency Medicine Rotation RequirementsContact Dr. Rawlings at least 1 week before the start of your rotation to setup an orientation (usually 30-45 minutes) before starting your first shift.Keep a log of your patients, diagnosis/problems, procedures on daily EDpatient log provided in ED rotation folder or in similar manner. Yourresidency department may need these in the future to evaluate your patient numbers. Dr. Rawlingswill review some of the cases with you and you will need these daily patient logs to complete theED rotation curriculum table. This will help us track what residents are seeing/doing in the ED andimprove their exposure/experiences for future residents.Using an interesting or challenging patient case you were involved with inthe ED, read an emergency medicine textbook chapter on it and/or other literature and be able togive a 10-15 min discussion of the case and teaching points you have learned in the readings. Youwill have this brief presentation/discussion with Dr. Rawlings, and preferably at a future residentmorning report with your peers.Pre-read about airway management and then practice the airwaymanagement skills at the PHI Aeromedical base. This will be done usuallywith Dr. Rawlings and an aeromedical Flight Nurse or Paramedic crewmember.Comments:Signed: _________________________________________ Date: ____________________Luke Rawlings, MDCc: Duane Bland, MD, Residency DirectorPage 45 of 153C:\Documents and Settings\dhutak\Desktop\rshb13.doc
