C. DutiesAttendance at the cardiologist’s office is scheduled. During this time you will work oneon one with the cardiologist. Continuity clinic time is maintained throughout the rotationat the minimum of four half-days/weeks. A syllabus of relevant readings on the primaryand hospital care of common cardiac conditions is available for each resident as acomponent of the rotation.A. Service GoalsCLINIC I and CLINIC II ROTATIONSThe Clinic I and Clinic II Rotations are unique and valuable sets of ambulatory familypractice and specialty experiences scheduled at MFHC and SCHC. The general goal is toprovide the resident with a hands-on, longitudinal experience in various specialty areas(Allergy, Colposcopy, Dermatology, ENT, Family & Community Medicine, GYN, HIV,and Orthopedics) as defined below under the supervision of the relevant attending. Theresident also develops a higher level of involvement and responsibility for the dailyoperations of the FHC, seeing acute add-on patients, participating in office management,ancillary services, review of patient care studies, and process improvement. (See alsoResidency Goals and Competencies)B. Service DescriptionThe Clinic I (C1) rotations occur once in the PGY II and PGY III years. The Clinic II(C2) rotation occurs twice in the PGY II year. See the Specialty Clinic descriptionsunder section D, which indicate the rotation (C1 and/or C2), site -- at the MFHC, SCHCor other site). Each month, the C1 & C2 clinic schedule may vary slightly, so the residentmust consult the published schedule.C. DutiesDuring this rotation the resident will be in clinic from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily,Monday - Friday. The resident will be responsible for all specialty clinics as scheduled.They are also responsible for follow-up on all patients seen in specialty clinics duringtheir month of clinic rotation.When not scheduled for a specialty clinic, the resident will see his/her continuity patientsand/or work-ins. Following call, the resident will have the day off (but call must bescheduled so that required specialty clinics are covered). Other health centerresponsibilities vary according to the Track and may include checking charts, daily lab,and prescription refills of those residents on away electives and vacation.
