establish whether or not a resident is competent to perform specific procedures. <strong>Resident</strong>s willdocument their procedural experience, including the name of the procedure, age and gender ofpatient. The supervising physician will document the level of performance (e.g., progressingtoward independent performance). Procedural teaching includes didactic presentations,indications and contra-indications, risks and benefits, informed consent, appropriate coding andcharging, management of aftercare and complications, and acquisition and maintenance of skills.The academic advisor will review their assigned residents’ procedure log bi-annually and discussthe progress of their training.The following includes the procedural competencies for each area of residency training alongwith the number of procedures required prior to completion of the residency program.
