Physiotherapistsalso treat people with chest conditions.Podiatry and chiropodyThe podiatrist or chiropodist can give you advice andtreatment on all aspects of foot care.Speech and language therapyThe speech and language therapist can offerassessment, treatment and advice to people of all ageswith a difficulty in speaking eating or swallowing. How to Obtain Health and Social Care Services in Your AreaSouthern Health and Social Services CouncilThe Southern Health and Social Services Council is anindependent organisation that represents the views andopinions of the general public on health and social careissues. It can give you advice and information aboutservices and can help if you want to make a complaint.This help is independent, confidential and free. Thecouncil cannot give you medical or legal advice.Interpreting ServiceIf you need an interpreter for your appointment this canbe organised by the health service you intend to use.Please tell them as soon as possible so that theinterpreter can be booked for your appointment. Theinterpreter will then come to the appointment andinterpret your discussions with the health care staff. Ifan interpreter is not available to attend yourappointment, a telephone interpreter will be used.In an emergency, you should ask for an interpreter assoon as possible, although there may be a short delaybefore they arrive. At first the service may use atelephone interpreter. Then if you need one, they willarrange for an on-site interpreter to come in person.The interpreting service is free.Page 15
