-38-3.3.3 Residential ZoneIntentThe intent of the Residential zone is to allow for low density residentialdevelopment predominantly in the form of single family detached dwellings and,in some areas within the zone, for medium density residential development in theform of attached housing such as duplexes, townhouses, apartments and the like,subject to density controls.Residential development within the zone shall be in accordance with theprovisions of Development Control Plan 1. Council will not permit residentialdevelopment of a form which is not consistent with the provisions ofDevelopment Control Plan 1 or to a density which exceeds the DensityDesignation for the particular site as indicated on the Development Control Plan 1map.It is intended that support facilities, such as Child Care Centres, Places of Worshipand Local Stores which provide services to residents in the area, may be permittedin the Residential zone in appropriate locations and subject to developmentcriteria which will ensure a satisfactory form of development compatible withresidential living.Tourist accommodation such as Hostels, Holiday Apartments and Motels may bepermitted in particular locations in the Residential zone which are highlyaccessible from the arterial road network and which are located in proximity tosupport facilities.
