RegistrationUpdateWe’re looking forward to a fantastic summer andexcited for the first group <strong>of</strong> campers to arriveon July 1! We’re currently at 95% <strong>of</strong> our fullcapacity for the summer. If you haven’t registeredyet we still have room in some <strong>of</strong> the one-weekprograms for girls and boys. Please contact our<strong>of</strong>fice for more information.Stand-up paddle boarding!Our new stand-up paddle boards are a great new activity for cabin groups to try out this summer. Camperswill strengthen paddling skills and enjoy yet another way to get on the water. We may also be teachingyoga on them as well!Parent surveyNew for the <strong>2012</strong> SeasonThank you to all families who took the time to complete our summer camp survey. In 2011, we heard:• 9.8 out <strong>of</strong> 10 families would recommend Pine Crest to a friend• 92% <strong>of</strong> campers felt challenged at camp• 93% felt the food was very good or excellentThanks to your feedback we’re making changes in our one-week program. One-week campers will haveshorter program blocks with more breaks, along with a group snack in the morning and afternoon. They’llalso have the experience <strong>of</strong> eating a few meals at Kekindewin, the main dining hall, and will have morechances to interact with older campers to help prepare them for the two-week traditional camp.Social media staff memberWe’re very excited to announce a new staff positionthis summer. Jared Bond will be Program Staff– Photographer and Social Media. Jared will beupdating our Facebook and blogging about Pine Crestthroughout the summer. Jared is a longtime camperand staff member at Pine Crest. For the past twosummers Jared has been our NAC co-ordinator andspent the past year in Italy working on his Fine Artsdegree. He will take photos <strong>of</strong> all the activities at campand share highlights each week for parents and alumni.You can follow Jared on Facebook and on our PineCrest blog at www.camppinecrest.ca starting in July.


Where are you now —share your ideas onupdating our database!We’re always looking for more connections with alumni. We currently have over 4,000 alumni in ourdatabase but unfortunately some <strong>of</strong> the contact information is out <strong>of</strong> date. In the past we have connectedwith alumni through email, Facebook, Campfire Chatter and phone calls. Current contact informationobviously helps a great deal! We’re hoping to reach more alumni and would love your suggestions.10%DISCOUNTOutdoor CentreThis spring Pine Crest has <strong>of</strong>fered programs for over 25 groups ranging from schoolsto <strong>YMCA</strong> staff training to summer job training for students.
