School Captains for 2011 are James Boots and Ashleigh Johnston.
Blue House Captain is Anzac Brown and Gold House Captain is Madison Colbert. SRC
Leader is Dee-arna Bryant and Community Officers are Alex Walker and Luke Humphrey.
SRC for Semester 1 is Tameka Brown, Aydin Wilksch, Jade Schmitt, Cameron Barty,
Gypsy Searle, Matthew Barty and Shelby Colbert. Congratulations to everyone on their
important role at school.
SPLASH DAY
A few weeks ago students attended
a combined Splash Carnival with
Blanchetown and Cadell Primary. Morgan competed in their
Blue and Gold house teams against the two other schools. It
was great to see everyone competing and encouraging their
team mates on. The start of the day was a bit cool but by the
end, we were all a little red! After lunch each team enjoyed
some time on the giant inflatable at the pool and then Morgan Gold, Morgan Blue and Blanchetown competed in
the annual milk carton regatta. Morgan Gold team was victorious ahead of Blue and then Blanchetown. Results
for the day saw Cadell the winning school ahead of Morgan Blue, Blanchetown and Morgan Gold.
YOUNG LEADERS/OVERNIGHT EXCURSION
Mid March saw the Year Seven students head off early in the morning to
Morphettville Racecourse for the annual Leadership Day. They
participated in a variety of leadership activities and interacted with
students from other schools.
The rest of the school (Reception to Year 6) left a little later for Adelaide
the same day. Their first stop was the Botanical Gardens for an
interesting tour and talk on trees and seeds and they were shown which
sticks aboriginals would have used to make fire. Next stop was the
Museum to experience the Backyard Adventures Exhibit. Students
participated in a variety of fun games and activities associated with insects, plants and vegetables. Later the Year
7‘s met up with the rest of the school at Glenelg beach where they were able to splash in the water, build some
sandcastles and participate in some beach games and races
(their practice for sports day!). Alicia Patton was the winner of
the sandcastle comp with a well crafted whale. After setting up
at Warradale Urban Camp, they headed off to Charlie‘s Diner
for tea. From the comments made at assembly, this was a real
winner!
Day 2 the school saw a fringe performance called ―Rosy Nose
and the Suitcase‖ before the school split up. Rec to Yr 3 went
to the zoo and the Yr 4 – 7‘s went to Adelaide Oval to the
Redbacks game. After watching for a while, the students were
able to have a hit of cricket amongst themselves on the oval
before their journey back to Morgan.
ACTIVE AFTER SCHOOL SPORT
Students were off to the Mobile Fun Box recently with their bikes and scooters for some fun on the Fun Box which
is supplied by Mid Murray Council. It rotates between the towns constantly. Everybody enjoyed getting ―air‖ up the
ramps – lucky we have bandaids though!
HARMONY DAY/ NATIONAL NO BULLYING DAY
Each class participated in Harmony day activities and the whole school came together to discuss the ―No
Bullying‖ and talk about how to incorporate the school values in school time to make Morgan Primary a safe,
caring and friendly environment.
HEALTHY LUNCH/BREAKFAST DAYS
Our CPS Worker Renee, continues to whip up yummy pancakes for
breakfast most Fridays and the Upper and Middle Primary Classes have
also prepared healthy lunch days. Upper Primary made delicious wraps
one day and the Middle Primary had hot baked potatoes with toppings
such as bolognaise sauce, cheese, sour cream, pineapple and
coleslaw.
