This will depend on the conditionand coating on your timber.1. Ensure that your timber is dry and free fromany wax, grease and dust.2. Coarse sand the surface to prepare with120 grit paper.3. Final sand with up to 400 grit paper. Alwayssand in the direction of the timber grain.4. Remove all dust.5. Our preparation guide will give you informationon Sanding, using Putty and grain filler.SANDINGThoroughly sand the surface to prepare it with60-120 grit sandpaper working along the grain,not across the grain and gradually introducea finer (up to 400 grit) sandpaper to finish.Handy Hint: exert even pressure with sandpaperand gradually reduce to a finer 400 grit paper.When to use a timberpreparation product<strong>Wattyl</strong> Colourwood <strong>Interior</strong> <strong>Timber</strong> Puttyshould be used to fill gaps, nail holes or cracksin the grain.<strong>Wattyl</strong> Craftsman Sanding Sealer should beused to effectively seal and fill the grain ofuntreated timber surfaces and raises thegrain for easier sanding.Application steps:1. Stir thoroughly before and during use witha flat stirrer.2. Apply one coat direct from the can usinga quality brush, roller or spray gun.3. Allow 3 hours to dry, then sand lightly in thedirection of the grain with fine sandpaperbefore applying the required finishing coats.Application Steps:1. Press the putty lightly into position with fingeror putty knife leaving a little standing abovethe surface.2. Apply grain filler with a piece of hessianor coarse cloth.2. Rub well into the timber grain using a circularmotion.3. Allow to dry for 5 to 8 minutes until the“wet look” disappears.4. Remove excess Grain Filler by rubbing across thegrain with a clean piece of hessian or coarse cloth.5. Finish by rubbing lightly along the grain to removeany cross streaks.6. Do not sand.7. Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours before coating.2

All timber floor boards must be thoroughlysanded, clean, dry and free from wax, greaseand dust.2. Carefully measure and mix equal quantities of<strong>Wattyl</strong> Estapol Flooring 7008 Part A and Part B.3. Stir thoroughly with a wide flat stirrer and allow tostand for a minimum of 5 minutes, then stir againbefore use. Ensure the product does not aerateas this will produce bubbles in the finish. Do notshake.4. Apply with a <strong>Wattyl</strong> Lambswool Floor Applicatoror a quality brush.5. Apply 2 to 4 full, even coats, allowing a minimumof 6 hours and a maximum of 24 hours betweencoats.6.
