1) BSJ shall have first provided said ARTIST with thorough, expert instruction in the use <strong>of</strong>said weapon by a person with specific expertise, training on this weapon. Such designation <strong>of</strong>expertise shall be noticed to Joint Committee with sufficient time to review.2) No ARTIST shall be required or permitted to handle any weapons in either rehearsal orperformance until such ARTIST feels confident that they have received adequateinstructions.3) All such shall be in the possession <strong>of</strong> the designated expert when not actually in use duringrehearsal or performance. At no time shall the designated expert or the ARTIST leave suchweapon unattended.4) At the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the scene, all such weapons shall be returned to and unloaded by thedesignated Expert.5) Maintenance and loading <strong>of</strong> such weapons shall be done only by the designated expert.6) The regulations listed herein above pertaining to the safe use <strong>of</strong> such weapons shall apply toanyone who appears on the stage with such a weapon, whether or not that person is under thisBasic Agreement.7) All such weapons will be thoroughly inspected, cleaned and inventoried at the end <strong>of</strong> eachrehearsal and performance.8) It is agreed that at the commencement <strong>of</strong> the first rehearsal involving coordinated movement<strong>of</strong> such weapons, performance tempos shall be modified to facilitate a proper warm-up andorientation prior to rehearsing at a performance-level tempo.9) At the conclusion <strong>of</strong> the scene, all such weapons shall be returned to the Property Departmentfor safekeeping.10) During a performance on which a coordinated movement <strong>of</strong> such weapons occurs, there shallbe a fight review <strong>of</strong> any such scenes prior to the performance <strong>of</strong> said scenes during the ballet.This fight review shall be scheduled and supervised by the designated expert or his designeeat fifteen (15) minutes to curtain.G. Fire Safety.BSJ agrees that whenever a production involves the use <strong>of</strong> actual fire the following regulationsapply.1. Whenever a live flame is on stage, or backstage, fire extinguishers shall be in hand or atconvenient locations, where the handlers <strong>of</strong> the extinguishers have a full view <strong>of</strong> the area inwhich the flames are located. Fire extinguishers shall be located on both sides <strong>of</strong> the stage.2. Except in the case <strong>of</strong> lighting flames as part <strong>of</strong> the scene all torches and candles shall be litby the Property Department. This lighting shall occur as late as possible to allow all torchesand candles to be lit in time.3. All torches and candles shall be returned to the Property Department upon completion <strong>of</strong>their use.52
