SECTION V: REHEARSAL/PERFORMANCE CONDITIONSA. GENERAL PROVISIONS1) Company ClassBSJ shall provide ARTISTs with a Company Class as follows:a) Such class shall be part <strong>of</strong> the compensated weekly hours and begin no earlier than 9:30AM on any given morning, with the exception <strong>of</strong> workdays including a Student Matineeas defined in Section III AA, <strong>of</strong> this Basic Agreement.b) During Rehearsal Weeks, a one and a half (1 ½) hour Company Class shall be provided atthe beginning <strong>of</strong> each workday.c) During In-Theatre Rehearsal/Performance Week a one (1) hour Company Class shall beprovided at the beginning <strong>of</strong> each work day. There shall be a half (1/2) hour breakbetween the end <strong>of</strong> the class and the start <strong>of</strong> the next rehearsal. In the event that norehearsal is scheduled for that day, the class shall be one and a half (1 ½) hours long. Ifthere is only a matinee performance scheduled for the day, per Section V.A.2.a, CompanyClass shall be replaced by a Company Warm-Up. However, on this such day, theCompany Warm-Up will be required and not optional. This is to ensure that all dancersare present and properly warmed up for the performance, since Company Class was notmade available.d) At least two different teachers will teach Company Class each week. BSJ will providethree (3) alternate teachers per season to teach a minimum <strong>of</strong> four (4) Company Classeseach. A teacher may teach Company Class for a limit <strong>of</strong> only three (3) consecutiveclasses, except in the case <strong>of</strong> an emergency situation that dictates a teacher’s availability.BSJ will work with Joint Committee to continue efforts to provide additional guestteachers. Alternate teacher shall be defined as anyone who is not the AD or Regisseur.e) BSJ shall make best efforts to provide separate men and women classes as <strong>of</strong>ten as isreasonably possible.f) Piano AccompanimentBSJ agrees to make best efforts to provide piano accompaniment for all classes and forall rehearsals when appropriate.2) Company Warm-upa) BSJ shall provide an optional forty-five (45) minute Company Warm-up before eachperformance not immediately proceeded by a Company Class. Warm-up shall concludeno later than fifteen (15) minutes prior to the one-half hour call.b) The ARTIST shall have access to the performing space or other suitable warm-up spacewith barres at least one (1) hour prior to the starting time <strong>of</strong> any dancer activity on stage.31
