vi.BSJ shall be responsible for logging all absences for any Artists Activity forwhich an ARTIST is required to attend and informing ARTISTs of whatever theirremaining balance is in writing. BSJ shall give this information to each ARTISTtwo times per contract year as follows: with each ARTIST’s paycheck deliveredduring the last week of Nutcracker and with each ARTIST’s letter of intent. BSJshall also make this information available to each ARTIST upon request.Absences from any Artist Activity for which an Artist has not been scheduledshall not be included.(b) Medical Leaves of AbsenceWhen an inability to perform is the result of major illness, injury, pregnancy orchildbirth, the ARTIST shall be entitled to a leave of absence, with the followingconditions:(i) Paid Leave1) Work-related injury or illnessBSJ agrees to enroll all ARTISTs engaged on a guaranteed-employmentbasis in a disability insurance plan, which contains a minimum of thefollowing terms:ooocoverage of total disability which is work-related;14-day waiting period per injury after disability commences;52-week maximum insured period per injury(ii) Unpaid Leave - Pregnancy and non-work related injury or illness:Where the inability to perform is a result of an non-work related injury or illnessor pregnancy or child birth, in addition to paid sick leave and disability leave asprovided for in this Section, an ARTIST, who has completed at least three (3)years of guaranteed employment with BSJ, of up to 12 months.c) Return from LeaveARTIST shall resume work without loss of seniority or rank upon written medicalrelease from his/her physician. Upon return to work the Artistic Director shalldetermine when the ARTIST is capable of performance at the ARTIST’s level ofperformance prior to the leave of absenced) Health BenefitsBSJ will continue health fund contributions for the ARTIST during such leaves ofabsence for any ARTIST who is experiencing a leave of absence due to a workrelated or non-work related injury or illness.e) Alternative WorkAn ARTIST who is physically unable to perform his/her regular ARTIST Activities,at his/her request shall be provided alternative duties consistent with the ARTIST’s28
