1) All performing ARTISTs shall appear in full costume and make-up;2) All scenery, lighting, props and costumes are utilized;3) Full orchestra or performance music utilized;4) There is a paying audience;5) The program presented is a full performance.U. PRINCIPAL ARTIST - shall be defined as an ARTIST who has been so designated by theEMPLOYER in the Individual Artist’s Contract for Employment and/or the publicannouncements, programs and other literature issued by the EMPLOYER.V. IN-STUDIO REHEARSAL WEEK – shall be defined as any week or major part there<strong>of</strong>, fromMonday through the following Sunday, which is spent in BSJ’s rehearsal facilities in preparationfor a performance. Free Days, as defined in Section III P, during said week shall be Saturday andSunday. Free Days may be changed as long as <strong>Artists</strong> are given notice <strong>of</strong> such change with theirseason schedules on the first day <strong>of</strong> their contract. In any event <strong>Artists</strong> shall never work for morethan six (6) days without a Free Day and Free Days during In-Studio Rehearsal weeks shallalways be consecutive.W. REST SPAN – shall be defined as a span <strong>of</strong> time in which no ARTIST’s activity as defined inSection II B, may be scheduled without additional compensation. (e.g. <strong>of</strong>f-span twelve (12)hours, 4th consecutive work hour, break period after travel, time between matinee and eveningperformances, Free Day, the two hour period prior to performance, and break time,intermissions/pauses and the time between the end <strong>of</strong> rehearsal and beginning <strong>of</strong> performance.)X. RUN-OUTS - When an ARTIST is required to perform more than thirty (30) miles beyond thecentral point <strong>of</strong> departure, but is not required to stay overnight, BSJ shall compensate theARTIST with the appropriate meal allowance. BSJ will provide transportation to and from suchperformance or an equivalent allowance for transportation.Y. SPILL OVER REHEARSALS – shall be defined as unscheduled rehearsal <strong>of</strong> the same ballet orrehearsal call which immediately follows a scheduled rehearsal and announced as such. Spill-Over Rehearsal shall not exceed one-half (1/2) hour per day per ARTIST under anycircumstances and shall be compensated at the appropriate half-hour rate.Z. SOLOIST - shall be defined as an ARTIST who has been so designated by the EMPLOYER inthe Individual Artist’s Contract for employment and/or the public announcement, programs orother literature issued by the EMPLOYER.AA.BB.SPACING REHEARSAL - shall be defined as an on-stage walk through/talk through <strong>of</strong> thephysical spacing for all traffic patterns and formations <strong>of</strong> a dance piece prior to a run through.STUDENT MATINEE - shall be defined as a full or partial performance with the followingconditions:1) Curtain time that allows performance to fall within the time frame <strong>of</strong> a public school day,typically 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.21
