B. ARTIST ACTIVITY - shall mean, without limitation:1) Any performance, company class, rehearsal, Lecture/Demonstration, make-up call, wigs orcostume call, costume fitting, photo call or interview, or travel counted from the time, whichthe ARTIST is required to be present.2) Any activity in which the ARTIST is required to participate and which results in the ARTISTplying his/her trade shall be paid.3) Any Activity in which the ARTIST is requested to participate, which does not result in theARTIST plying his/her trade, and which is the ARTIST’s option, shall not be paid.C. AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT PERFORMANCE – shall mean a free performance wherethe audience is invited and <strong>of</strong> a targeted demographic for the specific purpose <strong>of</strong> cultivating newpatrons.D. CITY OF ORIGINATION - shall mean the city <strong>of</strong> San Jose, California. An engagement will beconsidered outside the City <strong>of</strong> Origination if such engagement takes place more than a radius <strong>of</strong>thirty (30) miles from the company's point <strong>of</strong> in-city departure.E. COMPANY CLASS – shall be defined as a one hour to one and a half hours ninety (90) minuteclass for the purpose <strong>of</strong> maintaining and improving on the ARTIST’s craft and warming up forthe day’s work.F. COMPANY MEMBER – shall be defined as a dancer who has been engaged on a guaranteedemployment contract as defined in Section II A 1. Company Members shall include Corps DeBallet, Soloist and Principal ARTISTS.G. COMPANY WARM-UP – shall be defined as an optional thirty (30) to fifty (50) minute classgiven for the purpose <strong>of</strong> warming up prior to a performance or rehearsal, except where stated inV.A.1.c, where it will be considered required.H. CORPS DE BALLET ARTIST - shall be defined as an ARTIST who has been so designated bythe EMPLOYER in the Individual Artist’s Contract for Employment and/or the publicannouncements, programs and other literature issued by the EMPLOYER.I. ALTERNATES – shall be defined as any ARTIST who is listed on the Responsibility Sheet inconnection with a specific role(s) and is required to remain on call and be present during theperformance for which he/she has been assigned to cover/understudy until curtain goes up on theparticular piece <strong>of</strong> which such cover/understudy is responsible.J. CURTAIN TIME – shall be defined as five (5) minutes past advertised Curtain Time or thebeginning <strong>of</strong> the music <strong>of</strong> the first (1st) dance piece whichever occurs first.K. DELEGATE – shall be defined an ARTIST elected by the Company Members and Apprenticesto serve as liaisons between ARTISTs, AGMA BSJ. Delegates shall have access to all areas inwhich Artist Activity occurs and shall have access to individuals and information relevant toinsure compliance with this Basic Agreement. A Delegate is not an agent <strong>of</strong> AGMA for purposes<strong>of</strong> waiving <strong>provisions</strong> <strong>of</strong> this Basic Agreement or entering into any legal enforceable agreementon behalf <strong>of</strong> AGMA or any individual ARTIST.18
