National Energy Policy Implementation Strategy (2009), Energy Department4.8 Environmental concernsThe Country Environmental Profile (CEP) for <strong>Swaziland</strong> identifies a large set of areas ofenvironmental concern associated to: land and water management, land degradation andpollution, ecosystem and biodiversity degradation, climate change, and living conditions inhuman settlements. In reviewing the findings of the CEP together with the State of theEnvironment report (2001) and relevant environmental policy documents, the following keyconcerns can be discerned:−−−Limited water availability exacerbated by risks associated to the effects of climatechange;Serious to very-serious soil erosion of communal grazing lands, mainly associated toincreased livestock population together with reduction of grazing lands;Soil degradation of land under irrigation, especially in the Lowveld;RDMU (<strong>Strategic</strong> Environmental Assessment of the National Adaptation Strategy) - Page 26
