In addition to the high humidityrate that makes the spaces unusable, the salts dissolvedin the water cause the plaster to detach. Inthe most serious cases, in the presence of unconfinedaquifer, the water pushed by hydrostatic pressuretends to reach the same external level insideof the space, through cracks or empty capillaries.ENVIRONMENTALRECYCLABLEMIxMECHANICALLYMETHOD OF USEThe lack of suitable waterproofing or defectsin the same, in addition to causing significantdamage, always makes subsequent curativetreatments difficult and expensive. Therefore,it is fundamental to prevent and protect thestructures from possible water penetration witha waterproof cement coating particularly resistantto aggressive agents, impacts and abrasionsduring backfilling.OSMOSEAL FOUNDATION is a premix in powderform, based on high-strength hydraulic binders,water-repellent additives, powdered resinsand selected aggregates. It comes as a powderfor mixing with water at the time of use.OSMOSEAL FOUNDATION is reactive with respectto calcium hydroxide, forming stable andinsoluble compounds.EN1504-2CONCRETE SURFACESPROTECTIONACCORDING TO EUROPEAN NORMSCPI-MC-IRPROTECTIVECOATINGAPPLY BYROLLERPRECAUTIONSSTORAGE:IN A DRY PLACEIt is used to externally waterproof with a positivethrust the concrete foundation structures, underaquifer subject to infiltrations. OSMOSEAL FOUN-DATION is also used as waterproofing coating forthe masonry in contact with the soil affected bypenetrating damp.ADVANTAGES• The ease of application makes theintervention inexpensive and quick.• High penetration and adhesion to the support.• It keeps the permeability to water vapour.• High resistance to pressurised water.Waterproofing mortarO• SURFACE PREPARATIONIt is fundamental to suitably prepare the concretesurfaces to be waterproofed by removing anyold plaster and damaged and crumbling parts viachipping. The support is cleaned of oils, mortar, releaseagents, dust and efflorescence through water orsand washing treatments in order to obtain a cleanand compact support.Any seepage which occurs is blocked in advancewith BETONRAPID quick-setting hydraulic cement.Transudation and percolation are previouslyblocked by adding OSMOSEAL FOUNDATION toBETONRAPID for quick-setting.The concrete structure will be regularised with RE-SISTO shrinking-compensating mortar. The spacers of the shuttering protruding from thewall must be cut and nipped inside a cavity (possiblydovetailed) and filled. The angles between the floor and walls must berounded via shelling with RESISTO mortar afterMETHOD OF USEuncasing to improve bonding.Special care must be taken when wetting theconcrete support in order to create the conditionsfor OSMOSEAL FOUNDATION to absorball the water needed for the osmotic processand for the hardening chemical reactions. Thus it is fundamental to wet the support carefullyseveral times until saturation.Excess water in the form of a surface layermust be removed with a sponge.• MIX PREPARATIONTo prepare the mix, gradually pour OSMOSEALFOUNDATION, avoiding the formation of lumps,in a sufficient quantity of water (20%) to obtain abrushable mortar of the consistency of honey byusing a drill at low speed. The mixture ratio is 5 litres of water for each 25 kgpackage of OSMOSEAL FOUNDATION. The averageconsumption is 3 kg/m 2 applied in two coats. For smooth or particularly difficult surfaces, in orderto improve the bonding to the support, we advisepreparing a 1.5 kg mix of LATICRYL adhesivelatex +3.5 litres of water separately and then add, always while stirring, OSMOSEAL FOUNDATIONin the quantity of a 25 kg bag.• APPLICATIONRemix OSMOSEAL mortar to a honey-like consistencyduring use without adding water, and applywithin an hour of preparation, working from top tobottom, starting with the walls and finishing withthe floor.OSMOSEAL FOUNDATION mortar should beapplied with a Tampico fibre brush or sprayed withsuitable equipment.Spread a first coat on the substrate so as toachieve a uniform covering layer, then apply thesecond coat on top of the first as it hardens, followingthe same procedure.• COVERAGEAbout 3 kg/m 2 with two coats.(See following)6 th DIVISION
