<strong>Midshipmans</strong><strong>Foundation</strong>and the<strong>NROTC</strong> <strong>Alumni</strong><strong>Foundation</strong>At theUniversity of Texas at Austin<strong>Alumni</strong> of the Naval ROTC at the Universityof Texas at Austin, created a nonprofitcorporation,called the <strong>Midshipmans</strong><strong>Foundation</strong> in1970 to provide financialsupport toMidshipmen at theUniversity ofTexas.In the early 1980’sthese same individuals and others formedthe <strong>NROTC</strong> <strong>Alumni</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> as an<strong>Alumni</strong> Association. Its objectives are topromote the interests of the <strong>NROTC</strong> programand to support the activities of the<strong>NROTC</strong> unit and its midshipmen, officercandidates and alumni. young men andwomen in the unit. Since 1996, morethan $26,250 in financial support hasbeen provided to the <strong>NROTC</strong> Unit forscholarships, swords for honor graduatesand direct support funds allocated by the<strong>Midshipmans</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> Board with therecommendations of the Professor of NavalScience. In 2003 the endowment inthe <strong>Midshipmans</strong> <strong>Foundation</strong> exceeded$374,000. The endowment fund providesthe income for support to the Midshipmenand Officer Candidates at the <strong>UT</strong> <strong>NROTC</strong>Unit. The endowment fund was raised andis managed by the Board of the <strong>Midshipmans</strong><strong>Foundation</strong>.Max Miller, <strong>Foundation</strong> Vice-President presentsscholarship checks and certificates to <strong>UT</strong> <strong>NROTC</strong>Midshipmen and Officer Candidates during Unit activitiesin February 2003..
