Minor Construction projects will replace obsolete facilities,consolidate operations for productivity increases, provide state of the art processing areas for new R&D missions, and correct environmental deficiencies. Minor construction projects include all costs to delivera complete and usable project. Minor Construction projects meet the DoD capitalization criteria. This budget includes one Minor Construction project being executed under the Laboratory RevitalizationDemonstration Program. The project is in FY10 for $880K to modernize the R&D Test Vehicle Facility.Minor Construction is used at the Naval Warfare Centers to:- modify existing spaces and construct new facilities to provide suitable space to design and test new equipment for the surface warfare community- improve security measures and provide increase security for new initiatives- reduce operating expenses by building or improving government owned facilities so that leased space, high maintenance and space, or portable may be vacated.- reduce energy consumption by installing energy efficient building systems- modify existing systems to bring facilities up to current building, safety, or environmental codes.Exhibit <strong>Fund</strong>-9B<strong>Capital</strong> Purchase Justification
