To addthem to the fields list, set your CSV data source as the active connection and open the Report query dialog box. Go to the tablabeled CSV Datasource and click the Get fields from data source button, as shown in Figure 11-28.Figure 11-28 Registering CSV file fieldsBy default, <strong>iReport</strong> sets the class type of all fields to java.lang.String. If you are sure that the text of a particular columncan be easily converted to a number, a date, or a Boolean value, set the correct field type yourself after the fields are added toyour report.197
