<strong>Collection</strong> <strong>Development</strong> <strong>Librarian</strong> <strong>Competencies</strong>• Assesses the need to purchase additional copies <strong>of</strong> high circulation titles.• Assesses the strength or weakness <strong>of</strong> resources within specific callnumber ranges relative to the literature base for that subject in keeping withthe relevant collection development policy.• Assists in preservation assessment <strong>of</strong> the collection to identify items inneed <strong>of</strong> repair, rebinding, or replacement.• Identifies titles for alternate storage consideration.• Collaborates with faculty representatives on the compilation and submission <strong>of</strong>Program Enhancement application(s).●Notifies the appropriate manager <strong>of</strong> gift and other advancement opportunities; isproactive about identifying possible collections• With the assistance <strong>of</strong> the faculty representative, conducts a review <strong>of</strong>each department’s current subscriptions, as appropriate, for the purpose <strong>of</strong>identifying titles that might be candidates for cancellation. Counsels withdepartment on the acquisition <strong>of</strong> new and/or replacement subscriptions.• Periodically conducts collection analyses within area(s) <strong>of</strong> responsibilityfor the purpose <strong>of</strong> assessing collection strengths and weaknesses anddeveloping plans for collection remediation.7.
