Goalpara were the winners in the senior & junior groups respectively.Birjhora : On 06.09.2008 branch organized BKJ competition atBirjhora Higher Secondary School, Bongaigaon. The competition wasinaugurated by Sri Pulin Choudhary, Principal of the school.Sri SwadeshRanjan Goswami, Secretary State also attended the programme. 10groupswere selected for the oral round. In senior category Birjhora H.S.School& in junior category Sh. Sankardev Vidya Niketan were the winners.Silchar : Branch organized BKJ on 21st Sept., 08 at NarsinghHigher Secondary School, wherein approximately 200 students from 15different schools participated. The top scorer in junior group was NilimaRao, of Govt. Girls Higher Secondray School and in senior group RamalChakraborty, of Pranabanda Vidya Mandir.Gajuwaka, A.P.North-East : Branch conducted BKJcompetition on 25.10.2008 at Vijnana <strong>Bharat</strong>i School. 17 teamsparticipated in the competition. The competition was inaugurated by theMunicipal Corporator Sri A.J.Stalin.Chaitanya Public School stood 1st in senior group while A.V.K.High School bagged 1st prize in junior group.Greater Kailash-I, Delhi South : Branch organized BKJcompetition on 25th October, 2008 in 4 schools. 450 students took thetest.Lucknow Poorvi, Awadh Goraksh : Branch organised theBKJ competition on 2-11-2008 at Seth M.R.Jaipuria School, Lucknow.Seven Teams in senior and six teams in junior group participated. ShriP.Arvindakshan, Principal, Jaipuria School was the chief guest andColonel Y.R.Sharma was special guest on this occassin.Thermal Bokaro, Jharkhand : Branch organized BKJ-2008branch level inter school quiz on 25.10.2008 at Station Club BTPS.Theprogramme was inaugurated by the C.E. & Project Head Mr. A.N.Mishra.11 junior level teams and 9 senior level of 13 schools paricipated. Thequiz was conducted by the Supd. Engr. Mr. A.Dutta. Earlier about 1381students participated in the school level programmeOdissa : State level BKJ quiz among 13 top teams from Odissabranches was held at Bhubaneswar on 2nd November, 2008. Therewere 7 senior and 6 junior category teams. Red-Cross Bhawan waspacked with BVP members, elite guests, parents and media towintess this unique event. A special section of questions relatingto art, culture and history of Odisha were added to the main bulk ofquiz on <strong>Bharat</strong> by the famous quizmaster Prof. Dr. Sanjay Satpathycontinue on page 14..........12.11.2008. 223 students were examined by Dr. Bhat. The camp was inaugurated by SriSubhash Basumatary, Chairman, Basugaon Town Committee.Dr. K.N.Debsarma, Retd, Joint Director, Assam Health Servicesand Sri Swadesh Ranjan Goswami were also present in the camp. Twohundred patients were examined and medicines worth Rs.10,000/- givenfree of cost. The technicians from Archna Vikalanga Kendra, Guwahatitook measurement of artificial limbs and calipers.Goalpara : On 07.09.2008 newly formed Goalpara branch organizeda free artificial limbs measurement camp at Central Girls High School,Goalpara. The camp was inaugurated by Prof. Haridas Sarkar, NationalAddl. Secretary General. Dr. Shyamlendu Das and Dr. Asimananda Sarmaalong with prominent & leading personalities of Goalpara Town attendedthe camp.26 Physically handicapped persons attended the camp. Out ofwhich 19 persons were selected for measurement.Karimganj : Monthly free health check-up-cum awareness andmedicine distribution camp at our adopted village Nathupura was organizedon 23rd November,208. 45 patients were examined by Dr. M.S.Dasgupta.Medicines worth Rs. 5000/- were distributed free of cost.Birjhora : Branch organized free medical check-up & medicinedistribution camp at 36 N-Chorapara L.P.School on 23.11.2008 an adoptedvillage of the branch. 88 patients were examined by Dr. K.N.Devsarma,Retd Joint Director, health services of Assam and vice president BVPAsam (W). Medicines worth Rs. 5000/- were given free of cost to thepatients.Agartala, Tripura : An Eye camp was held on 14.11.08 in GariaAcademy south Tripura, organised by R.K. Pur Branch .102 personswere checked up & given free Medicines. 25 were selected for operation.Dr. D.K. Paul & his team took active part in the camp.Giddarbaha, Punjab South : Branch organized a medical Camp(ENT & Skin) in Sept, 08. in which seven hundred patients were examinedand given free medicines. Honorable Finance & Planning Minister, PunjabS.M.S.Badal inaugurated the camp as chief guest while Sh. RajinderGarg presided over the function.Greater Kailash-I, Delhi South : Branch organized a Dentalhealth check-up camp at Veer Savarkar G.S.K.Vidyalaya, Kalkaji on
