Management & StaffAHL Coaching Stafflane lambert head coachLane Lambert enters hissecond season as headcoach of the Admirals,after serving as the team’stop assistant in 2006-07.Lambert, the 17th coach inAdmirals history, guided ayoung Milwaukee squad toa 44-29-4-3 record and aspot in the <strong>2008</strong> Calder CupPlayoffs in his first seasonbehind the bench.In his first season at the helm, Lambert’s focus ondefense saw the Admirals give up the fourth-fewestgoals in the league in addition to ranking amongthe AHL’s best in penalty killing and shutouts. Healso helped Milwaukee to a 6-1-1 record to start theseason, its best start to a season in years.Prior to joining the Admirals, the Melfort,Saskatchewan native served as an assistant coach forthe Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the New York Islanders’AHL affiliate, in 2005-06 where he helped to lead theSound Tigers to a 38-33-6-3 record and a Calder Cupplayoff berth.Prior to his position in Bridgeport, Lambert was thehead coach of the Prince George Cougars of theWestern Hockey League in 2004-05. In 2002-03 hewas an assistant for the Moose Jaw Warriors (WHL)and helped the team to a 36-22-11-3 record and asecond place finish in the East Division.Lambert finished a distinguished 18-year playingcareer with the Houston Aeros in 2000-01. Originally,the Detroit Red Wings second selection, 25th overall(second round), in the 1983 <strong>NHL</strong> Entry Draft, Lambertfinished his <strong>NHL</strong> career with 125 points (58g-67a)and 521 penalty minutes in 283 games with Detroit,the New York Rangers and Quebec from 1983-89.Lambert enjoyed his most successful <strong>NHL</strong> campaignwith the Nordiques in 1987-88, recording careerhighsin points (41) and assists (28) in 61 contests.The 43-year old Lambert also gained significantplaying experience in both the American andInternational Hockey Leagues. He posted 107 points(44g-63a) in 115 games during three seasons in theAHL with Adirondack, Halifax and New Haven andnotched 131 points (69a-62a) in 302 contests duringfive seasons with Cleveland and Houston of the IHL.Lambert won a pair of championships as a player.The first was an AHL Calder Cup title with Adirondackin 1986. He also helped the Houston Aeros claim theIHL’s Turner Cup championship in 1999.Lambert and his wife, Andrea, have two children,Taylor and Samantha.brad lauer assistant coachBrad Lauer is in his secondseason as the Admirals topassistant coach, havinghelped lead Milwaukee to itssixth consecutive Calder Cupplayoff berth in 2007-08. TheHumboldt, Saskatchewan,native’s duties with the clubinclude running the defensecorps on the bench and prescoutingopponents.Lauer came to the Admirals after five successfulseasons (2002-07) as an assistant coach for theKootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League. Duringthe 2006-07 season, Lauer helped the Ice to animpressive 49-17-0-3 record and 104 points which wasgood for second place in the WHL’s Central Division. Inhis five seasons with the Ice, the team picked up morethan 100 points twice and won 40 games on threeoccasions. The team’s winning percentage during thatspan was a remarkable .638, while their 139 wins inthose three seasons were the most in any three years<strong>com</strong>bined in team history.The New York Islanders second-round pick in the1985 draft (34th overall), Lauer <strong>com</strong>pleted a 16-yearplaying career after the 2001-02 season. In thattime he posted 111 points on 44 goals and 67 assistsin 323 career <strong>NHL</strong> games with the Islanders, ChicagoBlackhawks, Ottawa Senators and PittsburghPenguins. His most successful <strong>NHL</strong> campaign cameduring the 1987-88 season when he notched 35points (17g-18a) in 69 games with the Isles. He wasalso a member of the 1991-92 Blackhawks team thatmade it to the Stanley Cup Finals.Lauer also established himself as a scoring threat during13 seasons in the AHL and the International HockeyLeague. Playing for the Indianapolis Ice, Las VegasThunder, Cleveland Lumberjacks and Utah Grizzlies ofthe IHL, he picked up 273 goals and 275 assists for 548career points. He also skated for the Springfield Indiansand Capital-District Islanders in the American Leaguewhere he registered 28 points (10g-18a) in 26 games.In 1992-93, he topped all IHL players with 50 goals andfinished fifth in the league in scoring with 91 pointsdespite playing in just 62 games for Indianapolis.Lauer played a pair of seasons with Lane Lambert inCleveland, including the 1996-97 campaign that sawthe Lumberjacks make it to the Eastern ConferenceFinals, the farthest they ever advanced, before fallingto eventual champion Detroit.The 41-year old Lauer spent 1998-2001 with theGrizzlies where he notched 72 goals and 75 assists in222 games, including 31 tallies during the 1998-99season. He finished his playing career with theSheffield Steelers of the British Super League in2001-02.nashvillepredators.<strong>com</strong> 29
