Management & Staffpredators foundationEstablished in 1998, the Nashville PredatorsFoundation strives to meet the educational, social,health and cultural needs of our <strong>com</strong>munity byoffering unique resources and financial support tolocal youth-oriented organizations. Through severalfundraisers held throughout the year, the PredatorsFoundation has awarded more than $2 million toNashville and Middle Tennessee-area charities and<strong>com</strong>munity service organizations since its creation.Wine Festival & TastingThe Predators Foundation held their inauguralWine Festival & Tasting in 2006. The <strong>2008</strong> eventconsisted of a wine tasting on the floor of theSommet Center and featured samples from morethan 120 wines, Budweiser beer and assorted spirits.Levy Restaurants also had culinary stations setup and served heavy hors d’oeuvres. The eveningincluded Predators personnel, an extensive silentauction and photo opportunities with Predatorsmascot GNASH.There was also a VIP Dinner & Tasting hosted byMichael Hendry of Hendry Vineyards in The SuiteLevel Club that included a five-course wine dinnerfeaturing Hendry Wines.Golf TournamentThe Nashville Predators Foundation hosts its annual“First Tennessee Dr. Mac Memorial Golf Tournament”each September. In 2004, the tournament’sname was changed in honor of the late Dr. JamesMcPherson, who served as the Predators’ dentistfrom 1998-2004. The <strong>2008</strong> tournament raisedmore than $40,000 for the Nashville PredatorsFoundation.Unmasked BallIn past years, Hollywood, Hawaiian Luau, NewOrleans Mardi Gras and Disco Ball have highlightedthe Unmasked Ball, a black-tie affair featuringPredators players, coaching staff and management.Guests attending the ball have had the opportunityto have their photo taken with Predators playersand the Stanley Cup throughout the evening. TheUnmasked Ball features a live and silent auctionand has raised more than $950,000 since itsinception in 1998.Jack Diller Education AwardEach year the Predators Foundation awards fourhigh school seniors the Jack Diller Education Awardin the amount of $2,500 each. All applicantsmust reside within Nashville/Middle Tennessee,excel in academics, athletics and volunteerism,and nominated by a teacher or coach. Applicantsmust include their transcript, an essay on whythey are deserving of this award and two lettersof re<strong>com</strong>mendation. The four winning studentsare recognized during a Predators home game.Applications are available in September with aFebruary 6, 20<strong>09</strong> deadline. Every time aPredator scored a goal or recorded a goaltendingwin in 2007-08, DEX made a donation to thePredators Foundation that was distributed to 10Middle Tennessee charities. For every goal scored bya forward or a win by a goaltender, DEX contributed$100. The contribution was $150 for goals scored bynashvillepredators.<strong>com</strong> 23
