Any chapter that isunable to fill all of its officer positions with AAPA fellow members maypetition the Constituent Relations Work Group for consideration ofexemption from this policy. [Adopted 1981, reaffirmed 1990, 1995,2000, 2005, and 2010]Application• Policy requires chapters to fill all the stated positions ofPresident, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary andTreasurer• All Officers, as identified above, must be Fellow members ofthe AAPA• If Chapters are unable to comply with this policy, they maypetition Constituent Relations Work Group for exemption.Policy #BA-2300.4.4(SPECIALTYORGANIZATIONS)All Officers = Members ofAAPA with a majoritybeing Fellow membersAll officers of an officially recognized specialty PA organization arerequired to be and remain members in good standing of AAPA, witha majority of officers being fellow members. Only those specialty PAorganization officers who are fellow members in good standing ofAAPA may participate in issues relating to AAPA such as voting forAAPA delegates, submitting resolutions, or representing the specialtyorganization in the governance structure. [Adopted 1997, reaffirmed2005, amended 2000 and 2010]Application• BA-2300.4.4 does not define “Officers”. CRWG affirmedapplication of the definition from BA-2300.1.2 (Chapters)wherein Officers are defined as President, President-Elect,Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. This definition willbe used when evaluating SOs to determine compliance.(11/04/10)• A majority of Officers must be Fellow Members• The balance of Officers must be AAPA members• SOs do not have a formal pathway to petition for exemption


Policy #BA-2300.5.3(CAUCUSES)All Officers = FellowmembersAll officers of an officially recognized caucus must be and remainfellow members in good standing of AAPA for the duration of theirterm in office. Any caucus that is unable to fill all of its officerpositions with AAPA fellow members may petition the ConstituentRelations Work Group for consideration of exemption from thispolicy. [Adopted 1997, reaffirmed 2002 and 2007]Application:• BA-2300.5.3 does not define “Officers”. This definition willbe used when evaluating Caucuses to determine compliance.(11/04/10)• Policy requires Caucuses to fill all Officer positions• All Officers must be Fellow members of the AAPA• If Caucuses are unable to comply with this policy, they maypetition Constituent Relations Work Group for exemption.General Compliance Application:• Compliance process notifications will be sent 60 days in advance of Officer membership expirationdate with a second notice sent 30 days out.• CRWG affirmed that CO will be considered “Non Compliant” as of the date of CO leader’smembership expiration. This is in alignment with Membership Department’s procedure.• CO listed as “Compliant” wherein a single individual is listed in more than one position within asingle CO. COD will notify CRWG when this situation occurs and establish a tracking system toidentify the scope of this issue.• With the objective of moving to a 24/7 House of Delegates, COD Department must possess theability to accurately assess CO compliance at any given point. This is maintained through ongoingengagement with CO leaders to educate and assist with the compliance process.
