Among all the crimesmentioned in the questionnaire, car hijacking is the one feared most, followed by thefear oftheft. Housebreaking comes third. Housebreaking is less feared becauserespondents stressed that they would not leave their homes without a person towatch the house.This second hypothesis has also been accepted.61
