68Selecting Aircraft and CrewTRAVEL$ENSEAircraftTravel$ense allows you to analyze one, two or three aircraft versus the airlines, resulting in a two-, three-, or four-way analysis. Releases 1 and 2 always requiredtwo aircraft. The upper aircraft that appears in Column 1 drives the schedulingof the other business aircraft and the airline – its schedule defines the meetingsthat drive the analysis. The second and third aircraft are optional. The firstentry in each drop-down is as shown to theleft. You must first clear the third aircraft beforeclearing the second. Appropriate crew and aircraftboxes are greyed-out depending on your selections. The default settings determine the initial setup ofthese aircraft (both the number and the aircraftinvolved). Both the labels that appear above the aircraftand everything about the aircraft themselves (all costand performance parameters) and their labels withinthe program and on reports are user-definable.Many combinations of aircraft may be selected to compare different costingmethods for the same aircraft (first create other variations in the Aircraftprofiles) or to consider charter, fractional aircraft, helicopter usage or evendriving the trip (create a slow “aircraft” in profiles, adjust speed andproductivity appropriately). Aircraft A could be a medium jet at high speedcruise billed at a fully-loaded cost while Aircraft B could be the same mediumjet at long range cruise at Direct Operating Cost-only chargeback rates andAircraft C is a charter quote. For more information about aircraft profiles, seeAircraft Profiles on page 47.Labels for the columns are defined in the Travel$ense Setup Defaults on theCorporate Tab. For more information, see Column Labels and Default Aircrafton page 26.Crew NumberThe vast majority of NBAA Members fly turbine-powered aircraft flown bytwo-person professional crews. Travel$ense allows users to define whether tripexpenses such as hotels, meals, etc., incurred by the crew during the trip are tobe included in the cost analysis under Other Trip Expenses. If they are included, crew expenses are taken from default values and are not changeable. They aredisplayed on Tab 4, Cost Analysis, and on reports where Cost Analysis data isprinted.Copyright © 1999, National Business Aviation Association, Inc.
