ecoming lifelonglearners <strong>of</strong> thenaturalworldEach week throughout the school year, students from different elementaryschools - and <strong>of</strong>ten diverse backgrounds - come together for a shared experiencein an environment that fosters respect for self and others and promotes theimportance <strong>of</strong> adapting to new situations with a positive attitude.Through the use <strong>of</strong> science inquiry, hands-on learning, and guided instruction,students coming to the Outdoor Science School learn about ecologicalconcepts and share moments <strong>of</strong> d<strong>is</strong>covery in the outdoors – many for the firsttime. The Outdoor Science Schoolserves four counties, which have a total <strong>of</strong> 77 d<strong>is</strong>tricts.<strong>Santa</strong> ClaraDue to the challenging economy and extensive budget cutsin education at the State level, school d<strong>is</strong>tricts are finding itdifficult to provide anything beyond the basics to students.
