Table 2 givescalculated quartz solubilities in liquid water and steam at the vaporpressure of the solution in lO·C temperature intervals up to the criticalpoint. When there has been no steam separation, silica geothermometertemperatures can be obtained graphically from Figure 2 or computed fromequation (1) up to 330·C. Hote, however. that Figure 2 and equati on (7)apply only to dilute solutions . High salinity of the solvent will have aminor effect on the solubility of quartz at temperatures below about 300°Cand a major effect at higher temperatures (discussed later).TABLE 1.
