Since the 1980’s, vetivergrass has been experimented with ortested in most provinces in southernChina, as in JiangXi, FuJian,SiChuan, HuNan, GuiZhou, HaiNan,GuangDong, GanSu, HeNan,ShanDong, and ZheJiang. Recently,great progress has been made inaccelerating vetiver technology extensionthroughout China. This workwas coordinated by the China VetiverNetwork (CVN) in cooperation withnumerous institutions in various disciplines.Some examples of workconducted by the CVN include:(1). National information service. Thenational information service focusedattention on the southern part ofChina where tropical and subtropicalclimates dominated. The vetiver publications(newsletters, fact sheets,and a journal) were distributed tomany national universities, researchinstitutions, government offices, provincialinstitutions, and also manycounty level and some township levelextension stations.(2). Field surveys and investigations.Aimed at disseminating vetiver technology,discovering new users andexploring new vetiver applications,field surveys and investigations werecarried out in FuJian, JiangXi,GuangDong, HuBei, HuNan, andAnHui Provinces.
