ProgramsThis section describes the programs available on the equipment.Use this section as a reference tool to better understand eachprogram’s purpose.Choosing a ProgramChoosing a program depends on your goals. If you are a beginneror returning to regular exercise, you can start a cardio-conditioningprogram to slowly return your body to a comfortable level ofexercise. If you have been exercising and feel that you have anintermediate or advanced fitness level, you probably haveestablished goals. The <strong>Precor</strong> web site (www.precor.com) can giveyou many ideas about fitness routines and advice from the experts.Several of the exercise choices on the equipment arepreprogrammed with recommended settings. However, you havethe option to override the suggested settings, with someexceptions. If changes are not allowed, a message scrolls acrossthe display explaining your options.If your level of exertion becomes too great, reduce your level ofintensity by overriding each upcoming segment in the programprofile. When you complete a program that contains a time limit orgoal period, an automatic cool-down period begins.Program Tips• Begin at the <strong>Precor</strong> banner and choose a program by pressingPROGRAMS or QUICKSTART. Hold onto a handrail as therunning belt begins moving after a 3-second countdown. Referto Workout Options.• A blinking column indicates your position as you progressthrough a program.• Prior to choosing a program, you may press the OPTIONS keyto access goal, language, or units of measure settings. Afterpressing OK to confirm new settings, you must select a programwithin five seconds for the changes to become effective. Referto Setting Display Preferences Before Exercising.• To use the SmartRate feature, you need to specify your age andwear a chest strap or hold on to the touch-sensitive grips.
