1 Adress by the Supervisory Board ChairmanDear business partners, dear friends!In 2009 KOMUNÁLNA poisťovňa, a.s.Vienna Insurance Group has recorded a year­-on-year premium income increase of 1.38%when compared with year 2008, hence deliveringsupport for the Vienna Insurance Group’seffort in Slovakia in meeting its business targetsin particular in the MTPL and comprehensiveinsurance, where Vienna Insurance Groupholds a leading position on the Slovak insurancemarket. However the success would nothave been possible without engagement, targetorientation, energy, esprit and enthusiasmto achieve the defined goals. Ability to respondquickly to changed market conditions and aneffort to adjust to client’s needs are coming tothe forefront of our partners’ interest.All effort and the results are the product ofconcrete actions of our employees, colleaguesand partners, who have realised that applicationof world-leading management practicesbears fruit in the form of success, which belongsto us all.Only a company experiencing a stablegrowth with increasing financial strength, constantlyexcellent business results, pro-clientand target-oriented management with highcorporate culture values is able to share itssuccess with its clients.Year 2009 was marked by achieving businessand commercial goals, as well as by successfulintegration of KONTINUITA poisťovňaa.s., VIG into KOMUNÁLNA poisťovňa a.s. VIGAt the end of 2009 the Vienna InsuranceGroup companies in Slovakia posted a morethan 31.5% market share in Slovakia. Undoubtedlythe efficiency improvements wereachieved also by the utilisation of synergyeffects under the leadership of KOOPERATI­VA insurance company and hence producingclient service quality improvements, providingthe Vienna Insurance Group with competitiveadvantage on the Slovak insurance market.In 2010 the KOMUNÁLNA poisťovňa hasdefined for itself ambitious goals. Strategic visionhe is an increase of market share in life insurancesegment to 8.81% and stabilisation ofthe MTPL motor vehicle insurance policyholderregister at the 22,018,000 Euro level.The company plans to achieve these ambitiousgoals by expanding its own businessnetwork and more intensive strengthening ofthe external agent network in order to be asclose as possible to the client.In an effort to satisfy client requirementsand respond to competitive pressures all businessactivities will be directed also towards thebroadening and innovation of our product portfoliobased on market requirements and utilising theknowhow and experience across our concern.But to become even more sought-after insurers,our success needs to be underlined bysignificant change in the quality of providedservices, pro-client orientation, when the ever­-famous slogan „Our customer, our master”must be observed by every single employee.Dear business partners and friends,in closing of my address I would like to expressthe most sincere gratitude to all you whohave shown your confidence in KOMUNÁLNApoisťovňa.
