5.2. Business year assessmentFor our sales networks year 2009 was extremelydifficult, namely due to the upgradeand transfer of products from KONTINUITA,new process settings for communication andcontrol, as well as a need for ongoing and qualityinformation flow towards our clients. In2009 all processes were driven by an objectivefor the best practices from both companies tobe projected to the business strategies of thenew brand. The sales section has implemented allchanges successfully. Our staff in head officeand regions, as well as salespeople, havebeen getting ready for the change already priorto its official launch in order to eliminate themaximum possible degree negative impact onthe company’s sales results.Newly created product portfolio requiredpeople who were trained fast and properly andan excellent sales and back-office operationssupport. Without these prerequisites the salesforce would not have been able to provide ourclients the quality, content and range of insurancecoverage options, which was the case inthe final solution.Today the 4 th largest insurance companyon the Slovak market, the KOMUNÁLNA poisťovňa,a.s. Vienna Insurance Group has in itsportfolio life and non-life insurance products, recognised by the experts, clients, as well asintermediaries for many years. These changes received a great deal ofsupport also from external partner companiesand agents. Major group was represented byconsultants working within the KONTINUITAnetwork and insurance agents. Both of themost numerous groups of intermediaries havewelcomed the expansion of the product portfolio,as well as the fact that they can accessall information in one place. Proof of this is theincreasing number of contracts with non-exclusiveintermediaries, as well as intermediariesworking exclusively for our company. The mergerwas greatly supported also by salespeople, all of whom have kept their employmentafter the change.Business results of 2009 confirm that despitedifficulties associated with the changes, exacerbated for example by a change of lawgoverning the insurance intermediation, mergerof business activities, stabilisation of salesnetwork, product portfolio expansion and theassociated change of the operation system, the sales activities were planned, coordinatedand executed in an effective manner.Sales staff from our internal network andexternal partner companies have managed inan orderly fashion the merger, as well as otherchanges and the MTPL insurance campaigntowards the end of 2009 was already under thenew common brand name, goal of which is tobe even more successful than the two previouscampaigns. This is the objective followed by the salessection in further expansion of their servicesafter the merger into 62 business units organisein 7 regional branches of own network,7 regional branches of KONTINUITA networkand 1 branch for external sales with sales centreslocated in addresses identical with ownnetwork regional branches.Innovative and pro-client oriented products, high quality of associated services for clients,as well as the salespeople and constant processof identifying improvement opportunitiesare the attributes of our sales activities also forthe future.Motor vehicle insuranceIn the motor vehicle insurance class theKOMUNÁLNA poisťovňa, a.s. Vienna InsuranceGroup is the 4 th biggest insurer on theSlovak market. In the MTPL segment it is ranked4 th among the nine providers and 5 th inthe comprehensive insurance from among tenproviders. Important factor is also a fact thatthe company has defended its positions evendespite an entry of a 9 th insurer on the MTPLinsurance market. After the merger of 2 companies, the KOMUNÁLNA poisťovňa, a.s.
