4 Environmental Conditions Use in Special Environments<br />

4.2 Use in Special Environments<br />

In the following cases, M3000 ® modules must not be used without taking additional<br />

measures:<br />

• At sites with difficult operating conditions, like those caused by<br />

– Large amounts of dust<br />

– Elevated air humidity<br />

– Aggressive vapors or gases<br />

– Corrosive atmospheres<br />

– Potentially explosive environments<br />

In these cases, the suitable additional measures to be taken may include,<br />

for example, installation in specially designed cabinets.<br />

• In systems that require special monitoring, such as:<br />

–Elevators<br />

– Electrical systems located in particularly (potentially) hazardous<br />

environments<br />

– In residential, commercial, and light-industrial environments<br />

– In medical environments<br />

Examples of suitable additional measures in these cases may include:<br />

• Installation in grounded, shielded metal cabinets<br />

• Installation of filters in the power supply cables<br />

• Use of shielded cables outside of cabinets<br />
