It is however important, especially when there is a greaternumber of line parts, to take intoaccount the friction in the sheaves, which can have a non negligibleinfluence on the strain exerted on thehoist and the top anchoring hook ofthe block.x1 x2BLOCSTOP ® Fall Arrest Device - GriphoistThe BLOCSTOP is a fall arrest safety device which has been designedto be mounted on a steel wire rope and to work in conjunction with ascaffolding hoist. A set of jaws, used successfully in TIRFOR machinesover many years, serves as the gripping device. The system is of the self-locking type i.e. if the wire rope is pulled againstthe direction of the pull, the jaws automatically clamp onto the wire rope. The greater the pull, the more the jaws grip the wire rope. The self-grippingjaw system of the BLOCSTOP is designed not to damage the wire rope, even when used in emergency situations.Applications:• On basketball backboards• On spreader bars of overheadcranes• On special lifts for the handicappedWire Rope(lbs)The Automatic BLOCSTOP BSAThis type of BLOCSTOP is an automatic slack wire rope safety devicewhich can only be used on a secondary safety wire rope positioned parallelto the main suspension wire rope.x3x4• On canvas aircraft hangar doors• When ascending lift shafts• When stowing goods in aircraft• For use as a mobile anchor liftingdevice. The Manual BLOCSTOP BSThe hand operated BLOCSTOP of the BS type may be mounted either ona safety wire rope and fixed to the platform or on the main suspension wirerope above the scaffolding hoist. When lifting a load, the wire rope passes through the BLOCSTOP. Thereis no need to open the jaws. When lowering a load, the BLOCSTOP hasto be opened by lifting the operating lever upwards. For TIRFOR/TIRAKCap. Wt. Whenthe hoist and BLOCSTOP BSA are mounted on a stirrup which is rigidlyconnected to the platform, as is generally the case in Europe, theBLOCSTOP BSA not only protects against failure of the hoist and the mainwire rope but also against excessive slope of the platform. To ensureoperation of this BLOCSTOP BSA, the distance between the uppersuspension points has to be 100 mm.For TIRFOR/TIRAKCap. Wt. In NorthAmerica, the BLOCSTOP BSO is an integral part of our TIRAK hoist. In this BLOCSTOP version the jaws are maintained in an open positionduring normal operation. A centrifugal governor which permanently checksthe speed of the wire rope passing through the BLOCSTOP BSO, engagesthe clamping mechanism when a preset overspeed is reached. It is,therefore, a safety device against failure of the hoist or the main wire roperun-off. In order to cover the case of a slow slippage of the hoist, this typeof BLOCSTOP BSO is also fitted with an emergency stop button, whichallows manual engagement of the clamping mechanism. For Wire RopeCap.
