(c)take no further action on the matter unless and until it is informed that an officerreferred to in paragraph (b) has been authorised to exercise the functions ofsupervision under this section.(4) A local authority or government department shall, on receipt of a request referred to inparagraph (b) of subsection (3), inform the village council as soon as may be as to whether itwill or will not accede to the request and authorise an officer to exercise the functions ofsupervision.(5) Where a local authority or government department informs the village council that it willnot accede to the request referred to in paragraph (b) of subsection (3), the village council mayeither–(a)(b)authorise an officer employed by the village council to exercise the functions ofsupervision; orwithdraw from taking action under this section and take–(i)no further action; or(ii) action under sections 39 to 42 or 43.(6) At the end of the period referred to in paragraph (b) of subsection (2) or any longerperiod which may be agreed to by the village council, the supervising officer shall report to thevillage council on whether the occupier has completed the acts or things which he wasrequired to undertake by the supervision order.(7) Where the report of the supervising officer is to the effect that–(a)(b)the occupier has completed the acts or things required to be undertaken, the villagecouncil shall take no further action under the supervision order;the occupier has not completed the acts or things required to be undertaken, thevillage council shall either–(i)extend the operation of the supervision order for any period which it considersnecessary to ensure compliance with the order; or(ii) take action under section 42.(8) <strong>The</strong> provisions of subsection (6) shall apply to a supervision order extended under theprovisions of subparagraph (i) of paragraph (b) of subsection (7).(9) Where it appears to the village council that the breach in respect of which a supervisionorder was served has recommenced, it shall either–(a)reactivate the supervision order and the provisions of this section shall apply to any
