At <strong>the</strong> moment <strong>of</strong> consecration he took <strong>the</strong>Sacred Host in his hand, and said :Holy and EternalFa<strong>the</strong>r, let us make an exchange. Thou holdest <strong>the</strong> soul<strong>of</strong> my friend which is in purgatory, and I hold <strong>the</strong> Body<strong>of</strong> Thy Son which is here inmy hand : well, do Thoudeliver my friend, and I will give Thee Thy Son with all<strong>the</strong> merits <strong>of</strong> His Death and Passion. At <strong>the</strong> moment cr<strong>the</strong> Elevation, he beheld <strong>the</strong> soul <strong>of</strong> his friend, all radiantwith glory, ascend to heaven. Well, my children, whenwe want to obtain any thing <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> good God, let us do<strong>the</strong> same after Holy Communion ; let us <strong>of</strong>fer Him Hiswell-beloved Son, with all <strong>the</strong> merits <strong>of</strong> His Death andPassion ;He will be able to refuse us nothing.My children, if we did but understand <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong>Holy Communion, we should avoid <strong>the</strong> slightest fault inorder to be permitted to receive it more frequently. Weshould keep our souls always pure in <strong>the</strong> sight <strong>of</strong> God.Listen, my children I ;suppose that you have been to confession to-day ; you will watch over yourselves ; you willbe happy in <strong>the</strong> thought that to-morrow you will have<strong>the</strong> joy <strong>of</strong> receiving <strong>the</strong> good God into your heart. Tomorrow, again, you will still be unable to <strong>of</strong>fend Him ;for your soul will be all embalmed with <strong>the</strong> preciousBlood <strong>of</strong> our Lord.
