But bad Christians arevindictive.soon as we begin to hate our neighbour, Godhates us. Hatred is like a dart, which returns into <strong>the</strong>bosom <strong>of</strong> him who hurls it. I said to a man one day,4But you don t want to go to Heaven, <strong>the</strong>n, since youwill not see that person ? Oh, yes ; but we will tryand keep as far as possible from each o<strong>the</strong>r, that wemay never meet. They will not have this trouble, for<strong>the</strong> gate <strong>of</strong> Heaven is closed against hatred. In Heaven<strong>the</strong>re is no rancour. And so good and humble hearts,who receive insults and calumnies with joy or indifference, begin <strong>the</strong>ir paradise in this world, while thosewho harbour rancour are miserable ;<strong>the</strong>y have a care-
