His first success as a radio personality began in 1931 when hetook on the name ‘Singin’ Sam The Barbasol Man.’ This collection features favorites that cover a 50-year period starting with Bicycle Built For Twofrom 1892 to I Don’t Want To Walk Without You, a hit from 1942. He started as a pianist and arranger for Art Hickmanand later became director for Hickman’s organization. Burtnett eventually formed his own group and took overthe Biltmore Orchestra. This CD features Burtnett’s commercial recordings from 1927 including his last tworecordings in 1934 while at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.
