Duringher tenure in the City Council, Gale offered countless internships in her district and cityhall offices. It is estimated that Gale has had several hundred interns during this time. After 12 years in the council that number could be as high as 1000.Thursday, August 8 th , many of these interns will be meeting at the Brewer campaignoffice to not only show their support for Gale, but to begin the countless phone calls, door knocking, and subways stops they will all do to lead her to victory.“It’s almost hard to count how many interns I’ve worked with since I was elected to theCity Council,” Brewer said. “We usually have between 40 and 50 interns a semester, and that does not include our summer interns as well.” Brewer continued, “the reasonbehind having so many interns is two fold; one, is to provide leadership training for thenext generation of involved New Yorkers. The other is to provide the residents of mycouncil district and New Yorkers, as much access to their government as possible.’One of Gale’s former council interns Basia Rosenbaum has been working on thecampaign all summer. Here is what she had to say about her time in Gale’s counciloffice:When I started interning for Gale’s Council office the summer before my junioryear of high school, I expected that I would be making copies and filing. After all, what would a New York City Council Member want with someone who hadalmost no experience in an office let alone city government? But not only doesGale’s office assign interns important tasks that very quickly teach them what

local government is all about, but Gale personally invests time with all of herinterns. Gale became a true mentor and inspiration to me over the course of mytime at her office, as I know she did for many other interns. Working for hercampaign for Manhattan Borough President is my chance to apply the skills shetaught me, and give back to Gale a little bit of what she gave to me.Who: Council Member Gale Brewer, former city council internsWhat: Former intern organizing partyWhen: Thursday, August 8 th 8:00 to 10:00PMWhere: Gale Brewer for Manhattan Borough President Headquarters, 2510 Broadway@ W 94 th Street ManhattanGale Brewer has served the people of New York for over 40 years.
