Contents InsuranceWe do not insure your personal belongings.It is important that you insure your own furniture, belongings and decorationagainst fire, theft, vandalism or water damage.We have a scheme with an insurance company to provide household contentsinsurance at an affordable rate. You can apply to join this scheme or arrangecontents insurance through another insurance company of your choice.How can I apply?You should contact the Rent Accounting Section on Kilmarnock 01563 576431 oryour Neighbourhood Housing Office for an application form, or fill out the formattached to this leaflet.How do I pay?The cost of insurance is payable weekly and premiums can be paid whenyou pay your rent.What is covered?Most of your household goods and contents are insured when in your home.They are covered against loss or damage caused by specific events such as theft,fire and flood. Also insured are stolen keys, freezer contents, tenant’simprovements and your own legal liability to the public.Cover for extended accidental damage and personal effects outside of the homecan be included at an additional cost.Keeping up PaymentsTo ensure that you are always covered, you must keep all your payments up todate. If you do not keep up payments this could affect your claim settlement andcould lead to the cancellation of your insurance.Start DateYour insurance does not start until we tell you that you have been accepted ontothe scheme.
