5.5.4 StreetscapeThe streetscape is perhaps one of the most important elements in a localcommunity. Its presentation will determine the amount of community pride, providevisitors with their first impression and possibly impact on property values. Anumber of components make up the streetscape including street and footpathcolour and width, kerbs (or lack of), traffic calming devices, drainageinfrastructure, powerlines and vegetation. It is important that these are treatedsensitively to enable them to blend into the environment with as little intrusion aspossible.
