Results and Benefits of PMA EstablishmentWater Network – in coordination with <strong>Maynilad</strong> Business Area and the NRW Unit, initiatedthe <strong>Pressure</strong> <strong>Management</strong> Program. After around 1 year of existence, it has already madeits spot as one of the best <strong>to</strong>ols in managing supply and pressure in <strong>Maynilad</strong>. Moreimportantly, pressure management has helped <strong>Maynilad</strong> in weighing considerationsin NRW and in addressing concerns in BV.Figure 9. Recovery and location of established PMAs in <strong>Maynilad</strong> as of end of August 2011As of August 2011, through establishment of PMAs alone, <strong>Maynilad</strong> has recovered11.86 MLD worth of potable water. In addition, with the use of pressure management asa <strong>to</strong>ol in network control, it has also helped <strong>Maynilad</strong> in the following:• Mitigating high transient pressure• Minimizing breakages in lines• Eliminating excess pressure during night time• Bringing down MNF• Maximizing flow during peak hours• Maintaining CP pressure at <strong>Maynilad</strong> service levelTo date (September 2011), there are 281 established PMAs in the whole concession areaof <strong>Maynilad</strong>. These PMAs are continuously moni<strong>to</strong>red and analysed for possible supplyand pressure variations.
