We will highlight the progress in evidence-based practices that has influenced patientoutcomes <strong>and</strong> report progress towards elimination <strong>of</strong> practices based on tradition, or “sacred cows”. Current <strong>and</strong> futurestrategies for successful implementation <strong>and</strong> integration <strong>of</strong> EBP will be presented, with opportunities for networking <strong>and</strong>sharing ideas.Thursday, April 18, 2013<strong>Conference</strong> <strong>Announcement</strong>The afternoon pre-conference tracks relate to use <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Iowa</strong> EBP model to guide practice <strong>and</strong> move away from traditionalpractices. Sessions include in-depth discussions on moving select practices forward through the EBP process. The daywill conclude with an “Ask the Expert” panel <strong>and</strong> a choice <strong>of</strong> facilitated poster discussions <strong>and</strong> discussion groups.Friday, April 19, 2013The main conference will spotlight EBP state <strong>of</strong> the science <strong>and</strong> progress made. Opportunities for successful movementinto the future <strong>of</strong> nursing <strong>and</strong> health care will be discussed. Program topics will include selective use <strong>of</strong> evidence,addressing sacred cow practices, <strong>and</strong> reporting exemplars <strong>of</strong> change. Of particular interest are abstracts related to EBP or “sacred cow” practices, the role <strong>of</strong> nursing leadership inpromoting EBP, <strong>and</strong> examples <strong>of</strong> effective approaches to eliminating “sacred cows” in real world issues <strong>and</strong> settings. Onlycompleted projects/studies will be considered for paper presentations. Works-in-progress may be submitted for a posterpresentation. This is an opportunity to attend <strong>and</strong> present to a national audience <strong>of</strong> nurses interested in improving patient,organizational, <strong>and</strong> community outcomes through use <strong>of</strong> evidence-based practices.Abstracts accepted as papers will be presented on April 18 or 19, 2013, as concurrent 15-20 minute paperpresentations.
