Education 93EDU 656 School Law: Operational Aspects and Cases(3) A course designed to acquaint the student with theprinciples of school law. Some of the areas included are:The legal system; school administrative structure; schoolorganization; tort liability; financing public education andprivate education.EDU 657 School Organization and Administration (3) Acourse designed to provide the student with a backgroundof the conceptual milieu of the school administrator andthe organization of public education in order to prepare forthe rapid changes in the field of education that demand anintegration of theory, knowledge and practice.EDU 658 Fundamentals of Curriculum Development K-12 (3)A course designed to examine the principles underlyingthe development of a K-12 public school curriculum.Emphasis on methods of determining priorities, objectives,scope and sequence and organizational patterns. An analysis of the differingphilosophies of education and their implications foreducation in a democratic society.EDU 682 Developing and Integrating Computer Applicationsin the Classroom (3) Prerequisite: EDU 609 ordemonstration of comparable computer proficiency. Thisis an advanced course in which students will use computersand multimedia applications to develop professional-levelclassroom presentations and interactive teaching/learningprojects. This course is also designed to help participantsintegrate instructional principles and assessment practiceswith the use of computers and related technology inthe classroom. This course will also touch on distancelearning, as well as various electronic communicationtechnologies as educational tools. Students will developa broader understanding of computer-assisted instructionand assessment and design instructional units that utilizetechnology in the curriculum of one’s subject area(s) orgrade level(s).EDU 685 Management of Educational Technology (3) Thiscourse is designed to prepare participants to coordinate theuse of computers and related technology within the school.One focus of the course will be to explore the principlesand theories underlying computer-assisted instructionand assessment within the school curriculum.
